SQOX v1.0 will finally be pushed out in the coming weeks. I won't be doing search ads or traditional marketing, it doesn't work for social sites.

A seismic shift is coming in social news this year since reddit is going public and the word on the street is that the old.reddit.com domain will be retired. SQOX will be here for those who enjoy an old-school social forum experience. No infinite scrolling, no ads, no 80 JavaScript frameworks haha. No intention on changing our format anytime soon. Yeah it's clearly a hostile sub if you aren't there to promote squabbles/lemmy. They are not interested in alternatives in general, but only using the sub as marketing. It's all good anyhow because I've never had much traffic come from that sub.

It is a word I invented. Using the hyphenated term Informational-currency is just too big of a phrase to utter and is prone to misinterpretation. Inforrency is a great new shorthand way to describe a type of non-monetary virtual-currency-like spendable "karma".
I own inforrency.com/.net/.org but I will encourage other devs to use the term Inforrency by releasing an MIT License for the initial Inforrency site. Inforrency is a word that can be freely used and I personally encourage any devs out there to jump on the Inforrency bandwagon if they've had enough of building invasive ad-based sites.| Upvotes: | 9 |

I'm still working on Inforrency.org, which hopefully will be launching by the end of August. Inforrency.org is a simple online ledger system that facilitates the import/export of karma/points, or any type of informational-currency from one Website/app to another without any formal cooperation between the two entities.
This will allow any Web developers to utilize the same process that SQOX will be using to import/export SQOX Points. The Web needs to shift away from privacy-violating advertising, and into a place where developers can create systems that do not rely on aggressive ads to pay the bills.The age of Inforrency is about to be upon us! Here at SQOX, we are major supporters of RSS. RSS for link submissions, for comment threads, for users, for domains, for everything!
Almost 15 years ago I ran a site called Snicx.com, it was my online RSS reader platform (widgets too, remember those things? haha). When google killed off google reader it was clear that Web users were not ready for RSS yet. I still believe RSS will play a major role in the future Web.It's very important to me that SQOX users organize their data from whatever platform they wish. SQOX will never serve ads so it doesn't matter how users wish to consume content.RSS is important for those that don't have access to fast internet. SQOX UI was designed to be as fast/light-weight as possible for the same reason. When we did our first test launch under a different domain, it was clear that token trading attracted the wrong crowd and scared away a lot of users who thought SQOX is a type of crypto. Confidence tokens and Private Group Membership tokens are core features on SQOX, but they should not be out front.
The fundamental core of SQOX is simple link/comment posting, nothing more. All the bells and whistles take a back seat. I want as clean of an interface as possible without overwhelming new users with novel features.| Upvotes: | 0 |

I have made an account on lemmy and squabbles and tildes, but I haven't been active at all. It's enough work just to operate SQOX as a solo dev. All the other alts besides the ones I've listed I have not found attractive enough to even create an account.

No and no. I'm not opposed to memes and funny cat pic posts, but I like the clean text-only look. And image hosting would bring in a whole new set of issues both in affordability and content moderation that I just could never afford.
A top priority for me has been page-load speed and rn I am more than happy with the way things are being served up. Lightning-fast load times is the primary goal, always. Web pages have gotten so huge and slow/buggy with multiple massive javascript frameworks being unnecessarily implemented. I mean, come on, 15MB+ 'jumpy' Web pages is the new standard?
